Scuba Diving Perth Australia

Key Biscayne

Maxdepth: 20 metres

Experience: Advanced

The Key Biscayne is a sunken, upside down oil rig, lying between 26 and 42 metres of water. It is regarded as one of the premier wreck dives in Western Australia, with many great swim throughs, and the crane booms spread across the ocean floor it has become a real marine habitat, one that should not be missed viewing.

She went down while under tow in an August gale. The swell was 8 metres with winds in excess of 50 knots. No lives were lost. Numerous salvage attempts have still left a lot to look at.

The fish life and sheer grandeur is second to none. Groper, giant dhufish, tuna, jumbo crays, and Port Jackson sharks all frequent the wreck, Lionfish, Moray eels and Wobbegong sharks have made it their home,as well as many other species too numerous to mention here, soft corals and hard corals are now in abundance.

Although the bottom is at 42 metres, there is great diving to be had where the wreck starts at 26 metres, so the experience can be for the early stages of advanced to the fully fledged wreck diver.
