Have you thought about doing an overseas dive trip? Why not come with us to beautiful, tropical Vanuatu (see attached flyer). We will be based in Espiritu Santo home of the most famous wreck dive in the world, the SS President Coolidge. The SS President Coolidge is a 654 ft luxury liner that was turned troop ship in WW2. She sunk in 1942 after the captain ran her aground in an attempt to save the ship after hitting mines laid by her allies (friendly fire). Laying close to shore with her bow at 20 metres and the stern at 70 metres the almost completely intact shipwreck offers up to 20 unique dives. The wreck is that big that I have been there twice and done 15 dives on her yet have not seen all of her. One of the great things about diving on the Coolidge is that it is a shore dive! Having previously being there I have had the opportunity to check out the accommodation and the number one place was “Aore Island Resort” (pronounced ow-ree) which is located 3 kilometres away (just a ten minute boat ride) from Luganville, the capital of Espiritu Santo. Fronting a pristine, white sand beach, the resort backs onto 900 acres of coconut plantation, beef cattle station and lush tropical jungle. Accommodation is in one of 18 individual bungalows with either beachfront, deluxe beachfront or garden view settings. There is also an open air restaurant is situated right on the beachfront. We have booked 8 dives on the SS President Coolidge and 8 boat dives to see some of the spectacular outer reefs which are teeming with tropical fish, turtles, reef shark, and beautiful marine life. You can generally expect visibility of up to 40 to 50 metres and water temperatures around 28 degrees. So if you are feed up with the cold weather why not join us on this epic adventure. Please phone me at the Melville store on 9319 8600 and see the attached flyer for more information.
