Solomons 2003

This was my first time to the Solomons and I was not dissapointed with what I saw. We were diving right up the top of the Solomons at Gizo which offers a greta mix of reef and wrecks.

The trip into Gizo is worth going for alone. You travel onboard a small prop plane which lands in the middle of a cocnut plantation on a small island that only just fits the runway on! The pilots major concern when landing is to avoid goats and coconuts!

The diving out of Gizo is conducted from small boats that can accomodate up to 8 people in comfort. Dive sites were all under 40min run out of Gizo and generally very protected from the multitude of small Islands which we explored between dives.

Although the town of Gizo itself was maybe not paradise the diving was enough to make sure I return again
